Search for the highest payout casino and youâll get two kinds of answer mixed together. Half the pages mean the games: which casino returns the most of every dollar wagered. The other half mean the cashier: which casino gets your winnings to you fastest. Both matter, theyâre measured in completely different ways, and a single â98% payoutâ badge on a casino homepage answers neither very well. Hereâs how to separate the two and what you can actually check.
- Payout percentage (RTP) is a property of each game, not of the casino as a whole.
- House edge = 100% minus RTP. It ranges from under 1% on some tables to over 14% on a baccarat tie bet.
- Slots ship in several RTP settings; the info screen shows the one your casino runs.
- Payout speed is a separate question: pending period, ID checks and payment method.
Two meanings of âpayoutâ
Meaning 1: return to player. RTP is the theoretical share of all money wagered on a game that comes back to players over a very long run. At 95% RTP, about $950,000 of every $1,000,000 bet is returned and the operator keeps about $50,000. Its mirror image is the house edge: 100% minus RTP. A 96% slot has a 4% house edge.
Meaning 2: payout speed. How long a withdrawal takes from request to your account. That depends on the casinoâs review queue, your ID check and the payment method, and it has nothing to do with game maths.
Both are fair questions. They just need different evidence, so weâll take them in turn.
Why âcasino payout %â is hard to check
Some casinos advertise a single payout percentage for the whole site. It sounds like the cleanest number possible. In practice it tells you very little, for three reasons.
Itâs a blend. A site-wide figure mixes every slot, table and game show, weighted by what players chose to bet on. If most of the action is on low-edge blackjack, the blended figure goes up, even if the slots are set low.
The casino picks the settings. Many online slots ship in several RTP versions, and the operator chooses which one to run. Book of Dead comes in settings from 96.21% down to 84.18%. Same game, same graphics, very different cost. A blended site figure canât tell you which version is in your lobby.
It describes the past, not your session. RTP is a long-run average over millions of spins. A casino-wide figure covers everyoneâs play over a period; it doesnât predict tonight.
None of the sources we work from carry an independently audited, site-wide payout figure for the casinos on our list, so we donât rank on one. What you can check is the RTP line on each gameâs info or paytable screen. Our RTP and volatility guide shows where to find it and why it varies.
𧟠House edge by game
The more useful comparison is game by game. Here are published house edges for common bets, from table games to game shows and a progressive jackpot slot.
𧟠House edge by game and bet
| Jacks or Better 9/6 (optimal play) | 0.46% |
|---|---|
| Blackjack, basic strategy (typical) | ~0.5% |
| Baccarat: banker | 1.06% |
| Baccarat: player | 1.24% |
| French roulette, even-money | 1.35% |
| Craps: pass line | 1.41% |
| European roulette | 2.70% |
| Crazy Time | 3.92% |
| American roulette | 5.26% |
| Mega Moolah (progressive slot) | 11.88% |
| Baccarat: tie at 8:1 | 14.36% |
Turn those percentages into dollars and the gaps get real. Worked example, illustrative numbers: C$1,000 in total bets.
| Game / bet | House edge | Average cost of C$1,000 in bets |
|---|---|---|
| Baccarat, banker | 1.06% | C$10.60 |
| European roulette | 2.70% | C$27.00 |
| Typical slot at 96% RTP | 4.00% | C$40.00 |
| American roulette | 5.26% | C$52.60 |
| Baccarat, tie at 8:1 | 14.36% | C$143.60 |
Same game, different bet: baccaratâs banker bet costs about a thirteenth of the tie bet per dollar. Same wheel, different layout: the extra double zero nearly doubles rouletteâs edge. Picking the right version and the right bet does more for your return than picking the right casino.
đ° Where slots sit
Slots are what most lobbies are built on, so they decide most playersâ real return. Across the 15 popular titles in our RTP research, the top published settings sit in a tight band: 96.0% to 96.71%, with Big Bass Bonanza at the top of the sample. Thatâs a house edge of roughly 3.3% to 4% at best.
Two things pull a slot below that band. The first is the RTP setting: the same title can run several points lower at one casino than at another, and nothing on the gameâs front screen tells you. The second is the jackpot. Mega Moolah returns 88.12% because a slice of every bet feeds its progressive prize pools, which is the trade for a shot at a very large win.
Across the wider industry, published house edges for slot machines from major manufacturers run anywhere from 2% to 15%. So âslotsâ isnât one payout figure; itâs a range wider than the gap between blackjack and American roulette. Live game shows sit close to video slots: Lightning Roulette is published at 97.30%, Crazy Time at 96.08%.
Fine print that moves the number
The edges above assume the best version of each game. Rules change them.
- Blackjack is only that cheap with perfect basic strategy. Copying the dealerâs play instead hands the house about 8%. A table paying 6:5 on blackjack instead of 3:2 adds 1.39% to the edge, and moving from one deck to eight adds 0.59%.
- Video poker depends on the pay table. Jacks or Better at 9/6 returns 99.54%; at 6/5 it returns 95.00%.
- Roulette on a French table halves the edge on even-money bets thanks to la partage. American rouletteâs five-number bet runs at 7.89%.
- Live game shows vary by bet. Dream Catcher runs from a 3.42% to a 9.19% edge depending on the number you back.
Our table games page covers the rules in more depth, and live casino breaks down the game shows.
The bonus twist
Hereâs where âhighest payoutâ gets complicated for bonus players. The low-edge games at the top of the chart are often the ones that count least toward wagering.
In the bonus terms we read, Jackpot City and Grizzlyâs Quest count roulette, blackjack and video poker at 8% and baccarat at 0%. Casino Classic counts most table games at 2%, and V.Vegas excludes them entirely. A game counting 8% needs 12.5 times the bets of a slot to clear the same target, so the lower edge per bet gets swamped by the volume.
Thatâs why slots, at around 96%, are the usual way to clear a bonus, and why the RTP setting matters so much. Our wagering requirements guide has the full formula, and the wagering calculator lets you plug in any RTP.

LeoVegas carries the lightest wagering on our list (25x on the deposit), which is the other half of âbest payoutâ for a bonus player: fewer bets needed means less house edge paid along the way.
Meaning 2: who pays out fastest
Now the cashier. Payout speed is three clocks added together: the casinoâs pending period, the ID check on your first withdrawal, and the payment methodâs transit time. Hereâs the fastest time each casino publishes for a verified account.

These are operator-published best cases, cross-checked against Canadian review sites, and our research confidence on most of them is low or medium. Where a casino says âinstantâ, read it as a claim about its own processing on a verified account. Lucky Days and V.Vegas both sit near the quick end on published times, but Interac or a bank transfer still adds hours to days after release.
Our casino withdrawals guide walks through each stage, and the fast payout casinos page lists the quickest sites. If speed is the priority, crypto is typically quickest once the casino releases funds; our crypto casino guide covers the trade-offs.
How to find the best payout for you
- Pick the game first. House edge varies more between games and bets than between casinos.
- Open the info screen on any slot and read the RTP line. If itâs below the studioâs top setting, consider another title.
- Choose the better version: European or French roulette over American, 3:2 blackjack over 6:5, full-pay video poker.
- For bonuses, clear on slots that count 100%, at the highest RTP available.
- For speed, verify your account early and withdraw to a fast method such as Interac e-Transfer or an e-wallet.
- For small balances, check minimum withdrawals before you deposit; our C$1 and C$5 deposit guide shows why.
đ For players in Canada
The casinos on our list are licensed outside Canada and serve players aged 19 or over outside Ontario and Alberta, which run their own regulated markets. Provincial consumer protections donât apply to these sites. A high RTP is a long-run average, not a promise for any session. Set a deposit limit before you play, and see our responsible gambling page for every provincial helpline.
FAQ
What does payout mean at an online casino?
It's used for two different things. One is the payout percentage or RTP, the long-run share of bets a game returns to players. The other is payout speed, how quickly the casino pays a withdrawal. A casino can be strong on one and weak on the other, so check which one a ranking is talking about.
Which casino game has the best payout?
On published house edges, blackjack played with basic strategy (about 0.4%-0.6%), 9/6 Jacks or Better video poker (99.54% return) and the banker bet in baccarat (1.06%) sit at the top. Most modern slots run about 96% RTP at their top setting, and progressive jackpots far lower.
Can I trust a casino's overall payout percentage?
Treat it with care. A casino-wide figure blends every game, every RTP setting the casino chose and every bet players made, so it says little about the game you'll play. The number that matters is the RTP on the info screen of the game in front of you.
Is a higher RTP slot better for clearing a bonus?
Yes, on average. Every C$1,000 in bets on a 96% slot costs about C$40; on a 94% slot, about C$60. Over a long wagering target that gap adds up. Table games often have lower house edges but count only 8%, 2% or 0% toward wagering at the casinos we checked.
Which casinos pay out fastest in Canada?
On published times, several casinos on our list state withdrawals in minutes to a few hours for verified accounts, mostly via crypto and e-wallets. Those are operator claims. Your first withdrawal also waits for ID checks, and Interac or bank transfers add their own transit time.
